Butter Poached Lobster Tail Ingredients

  1. (4) 4-5 ounce Frozen Lobster Tails from Lobster Trader. Be sure to thaw the tails out
  2. 2-3 Tablespoons of Water
  3. 2 Sticks of Butter
  4. A Large pot for boiling lobster tails
  5. A saucepan

Butter Poached Lobster Tail Preparation

To prepare, be sure to thaw out your frozen lobster tails. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully drop in your thawed out lobster tails. Boil for 3-4 minutes until the lobster is partially cooked through and pull them out. A great tip is to shock the lobster tails in ice water so they don’t cook further and become rubbery.

Remove the lobster meat from the shell as we are going to prepare to butter poach the tail meat. Cut your butter into pieces and proceed with the recipe.

Butter Poached Lobster Tail Cooking Instructions

The time has come to start butter poaching your lobster tails!

Bring 2-3 tablespoons of water to a simmer, and begin to melt in the butter one piece at a time, until all the butter is melted. Don’t burn the butter or let it come to a boil, medium heat should do just fine. Your pan should have a nice layer of butter now and it is time to add in your partially cooked lobster tails.

Add the tails into the saucepan. Cook for around 8 minutes, consistently covering the lobster tails with butter while cooking. After layering the lobster with butter and cooking for a while, feel free to take the internal temperature of the tails. A butter poached lobster tail should have around 140°-145° Fahrenheit internal temperature.
